Technology-Aided Addiction: The Context Experiment

In my very first podcast, find out how adding context to your digital life can bring you back to reality.

In this episode, I discuss addiction, the current solutions for solving addictions (ie: evading your smartphone), why they don't work, and my experiment to solve the problem backed by what I call context theory.

Here's the gist of it:

The solution? Create and enforce your own contexts. Make it as easy as possible on yourself.

Learn more about the problem and my experiment in my first podcast ever.

Podcast Notes

The Second Device

For my experiment, I picked up a discounted iPhone 7 at Best Buy. You don't need to buy a new phone to create your own contexts if you already have an old one sitting around or if you have something like a tablet. You could also buy a second device on eBay for cheap.

Regardless of how you obtain a second device, the money is well spent if you use it to successfully curb your addiction.
